Packaging Design

Designing Within Production Constraints

This packaging system was created for Briazz Café food products and lunch assortments using uncoated kraft stock and a two-color printing process. The challenge was to create a package that felt distinctive and inviting while working within the practical limitations of food-service production.

By embracing the natural qualities of the materials and simplifying the graphic approach, the design achieved a handcrafted, approachable character that aligned with the brand and product offering. The result demonstrates how thoughtful use of materials, color, and typography can create strong visual impact without relying on complex production techniques.

Software Game Packaging

Designed packaging, instructional materials, and supporting collateral for a chess software title. The project included illustration, modeling, package design, and information graphics developed to communicate the product’s features and create a cohesive retail presentation.

The packaging system extended beyond the box to include instructional inserts and supporting materials, creating a consistent visual experience from purchase through product use.

Funko Collectible Design

Developed packaging and collectible character concepts for Philippe The Original, one of Los Angeles’ most iconic and historic restaurants. The project included updating key brand elements and creating a custom Funko-style bobblehead that celebrated the restaurant’s heritage while appealing to both loyal customers and collectors.

The design process involved translating recognizable brand attributes into a simplified character form, balancing authenticity, personality, and collectibility. Packaging and supporting graphics were developed to complement the figure while reinforcing Philippe’s longstanding presence within Los Angeles food culture and community.

Grammy Packaging

Designed the packaging system for the 2003 Grammy Nominees release, including the outer case, disc artwork, and printed sleeve components. The project required bringing together a diverse collection of artists and musical genres under a unified visual identity while maintaining the prestige associated with the Grammy Awards brand.

Photography, typography, and award branding were integrated across all packaging components to create a cohesive retail presentation. The final design celebrated the year’s most recognized recordings while providing a polished and memorable package experience for music consumers.

DVD Packaging Design

Over the course of my career in the home entertainment industry, I designed packaging and promotional materials for a wide range of film and television releases. Projects included DVD and VHS packaging, collector editions, sales collateral, retailer marketing materials, and product launch campaigns for major studios and entertainment brands.

Each package was developed to capture the tone, genre, and personality of the title while creating a compelling retail presence. From concept development and image retouching to typography, layout, and production artwork, the work balanced creative storytelling with the practical requirements of marketing and distribution.

The examples shown here represent a sampling of packaging solutions created across a variety of entertainment properties and audiences.

Box Set Packaging

Developed title treatments and packaging design for a special-edition John Wayne box set, creating a visual identity that reflected the legacy, ruggedness, and enduring appeal of one of America’s most iconic film stars.

Rich leather textures and Western-inspired design elements were incorporated throughout the package to evoke the spirit of the American frontier and the classic films that defined Wayne’s career.

The project included title exploration, package graphics, and production-ready artwork designed to function across multiple packaging components. The result was a collector-focused presentation that celebrated the heritage of the films while creating a distinctive retail presence for the box set release.

Vitamin Packaging Design

Created packaging for the System 24 supplement line, developing a clean and scalable visual system that unified multiple products under a single brand identity. The design emphasized clarity, organization, and strong shelf presence while allowing individual products to be distinguished through color, messaging, and product hierarchy.
